This is the sort of story I'm more used to ranting about.

A pregnant 13-year-old girl in Florida has been told she cannot have an abortion because she lacks the maturity to make such a decision.
So she's not mature enough to make a decision, but she is mature enough to bring up a child? You make sense of it, I can't.

I think I've got it. I know what's going on. It's the christian right's way of punishing the girl. They're saying "You fucked up kid, you had sex and you weren't married. Now we're going to fuck you by taking away your youth and giving you the burden of a kid you clearly don't want thereby making you both miserable. Two lives screwed for the price of one. God is good. Jesus loves you."
I think that's it. It's all very old testament isn't it! Maybe instead of an epidural they can organise some for some sulphur to be rained down upon her? I'm sure the girl has learned her lesson. I hope she realised in hindsight that having sex at her age was probably a mistake, but to ruin two lives?
