Guilty after being proven innocent?

Riddle me this.

Zacarias Moussaoui is the only person to have been charged in the US for involvement in the 9/11 attacks. At his trial, a week or so ago, he entered a guilty plea and the US Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has said that he will seek the death penalty.

What makes the whole trial and guilty plea thing so weird is that in October 2003 the FBI announced that Moussaoui was not involved in the attacks.

Isn’t that odd? What on earth do you think happened to Moussaoui in prison to make him confess?
