Just in case
my physical well-being is of concern to anyone, my 847th attempt at giving up smoking has lasted....
5 days!!
I am so weak.
But on the bright side, a chap told me once that each ciggy takes 5 minutes off your life. So i've bought myself another 5½ hours.
Let the church bells ring out.

I've "quit" quite a few times myself (see this post). I'll be joining you in the hell that is nicotine withdrawal in a couple of weeks. Good luck to you.
By the way, are you using the patch/gum/etc.?
I was using the gum.
Now i'm using Dumas roll-ups. They taste nicer.
Good luck btw!!!
So I have been a nicorette addict since I gave up smoking about 2 years ago. I spend more on the gum then I did on parliments and camel lights. Although it is the scientific communities understanding that it is not the nicotine that causes cancer, I am fairly certain that there is some long-term killer from the gum yet to be discovered...I am proud of your 5 days. Don't beat yourself up...life is so fleeting
thanx fr the nie post by the way..i still owe you a review of the syd ..it's on my ipod!
Wise words - I'm not to beaten by it - the most important thing you need to stop smoking as you know is the desire to stop. I stopped because of a coughing fit i had on Sunday morning last week which scared me. I didn;t really want to stop, I enjoy a ciggy so with all the gum and patches in the world, at the moment i'm not going to stop.
But I've been smoking since i was 17 - 21 years now - it must have taken it's toll.
I do remember hearing (and i've no idea if this is true) that the smoke gets your lungs but the nicotine gets your heart?
